Producer Q&A

Posted on May 1, 2017

We wanted to share with you the most frequently asked questions heard at the recent International Production & Processing Expo in Atlanta, Georgia, the Midwest Poultry Federation Convention in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and the London Poultry Show in London, Ontario.

Q: How do I ensure my equipment investment is compliant with regulations and certifications…now…and in the future?

A. No other manufacturer of cage-free equipment has higher animal-welfare standards than Vencomatic. Our equipment is designed to ensure all five animal welfare freedoms are met. Our aviaries are certified by the United Egg Producers, American Humane, Certified Humane, Canada Code of Practice (Canadian National Program) and KAT (Association for Controlled Alternative Animal Husbandry) – the standard in Germany and the more strict European System. However, what really makes our equipment attractive to producers is that we have been able to combine the highest level of animal welfare with increased production.

Q. The aviary equipment looks complicated…is it easy to manage?

A. Easily-managed aviaries depend on several factors, but one of the most critical is how your pullets are raised. A proper rearing system teaches your pullets how to function in an aviary. In order to achieve this, we recommend you rear your pullets in one of our specially-designed rearing systems, then move them into the aviary.

Q: How is your equipment different from other cage-free systems?

A. One of our system’s key differences is the increase in the number of salable eggs. Our Bolegg units maximize nest eggs, minimize system eggs, and limit other factors that can contaminate your eggs thanks to our innovative tipping floor, egg belts, and egg handling systems.
