In the Patio, the hatching and brooding phases are combined. The system is designed to hatch broiler chicks at the farm where they will also be raised. Instead of transporting day-old chicks from the hatchery to the broiler farm, companies working with the Patio receive 18-day-incubated eggs, which are placed in the system. As soon as the chick emerges from the egg they are able to have three basic needs met immediately: food, water and fresh air.
The Patio system is set up in cells, with two system rows separated by a corridor. Each row consists of 4-6 identical tiers on top of each other and is equipped with feed, water and litter. The compact construction with multiple tiers allows for a very high capacity of hatching/brooding, or rearing.
